Children's rights? Oh well, who cares anyway?
Children's rights? Oh well, who cares anyway? I've tried. I've screamed. I've knocked on the doors of the adult world and said: “Hello! Is anyone there? Can we talk a little about children's rights?” I've written about forced marriages, honor crimes, children's right to simply be children, parents' duty to actually be parents. I've reminded people that if we don't take care of our kids, the criminal gangs will. But you know what? No one answers. The adult world is busy with other things. We have far more important issues to discuss—like whether kids should be allowed to wear caps and puffer jackets at school! I mean, imagine the groundbreaking societal change that would be if we banned those terrible jackets. Once and for all. Forced marriages? Eh. Honor crimes? Pfft. Children being recruited into gangs?
